Your support can help redefine what's possible for children with hearing or vision loss.
Beautiful sisters Gem and Pip were born five years apart, both with complex needs.
Soon after Gem was born, mum Dee realised her daughter couldn’t see the world around her. Soon after Gem was diagnosed with a rare condition called Peters Syndrome, which involves a thinning and clouding of the cornea leading to significant vision loss.
Gem’s parents Dee and Michael never once doubted that their little girl would be able to lead a full and happy life. And they were so excited to introduce Gem to her loving big sister Pip, who was born five years earlier with severe hearing loss. One of the reasons Dee and Michael were so confident about Gem’s future was because they had already experienced the incredible support available for children with unique needs—through NextSense—with Pip.
NextSense has been helping Australian children with hearing and vision loss to live life to the fullest for over 160 years. With the support of generous donors, we provide diagnostic services, therapy and education, so they can thrive.
Thanks to the support from NextSense, Dee says Gem is blossoming as she develops new skills and grows in confidence through her therapy, and other services.
To continue this support and help other children with hearing or vision loss access the early intervention and support they need, make a generous donation today.
